Special presentation by Dr Jaime Awe, head of the Department of Archaeology

A special presentation on the Maya calendar, Maya history, the significance and role of cacao in ancient times, and in the development of the Toledo District was given by Dr Jaime Awe. This was followed by a talk from Justino Peck, Chairman of the Toledo Cacao Growers Association on the history and development of the co-operative, and some of the highlights, achievements as well as challenges facing the modern Maya.
